'Bullock Carts' March to Vigyan Bhavan

Following up on our demand for declaring 'Drought', as 'National Calamity'; we, at Indian Youth Congress, organized Gherao of 'Agriculture Ministers Conference' at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 24th July 2002.

Using a unique but symbolical media of 'Bullock Carts' procession to break the deafening silence of BJP led NDA government, a few thousand youth workers led by the Shri Randeep Singh Surjewala organized a peaceful procession cum Gherao. In patently draconian style, our boys were lathi-charged and over 300 including IYC President were booked in a false criminal case and arrested.

Youth Congress reiterated Smt. Sonia Gandhiji's stance of providing immediate succour to the poor starving farmers and farm labourers in these times of extreme hardship rather then paying lip service sitting in New Delhi while over 50% Kharif crop has been destroyed.
