On 19th November, 2006; i.e. 87th Birth Anniversary of late Smt. Indira Gandhi; launched a novel scheme for reaching out to each of the 9,00,000 scheduled caste households in Haryana.

REACHING OUT TO MOST PARCHED AREAS THROUGH NABARD ASSISTANCE AND NCR PLANNING BOARD
A drinking water augmentation project costing Rs.186.42 crore for 188 rural water supply schemes was approved under NABARD and NCR Planning Board assistance in 2007 for augmenting the drinking water supply to 70 litres per capita per day (lpcd).
ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE – TRUE CREATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE IN SMALLEST OF TOWNS.
In February, 2009; Government approved a special Economic Stimulus Package in various infrastructure sectors including drinking water and sanitation. This package included 100% coverage of water supply and sewerage facilities in 14 towns of Haryana.
SOME OTHER INITIATIVES
A number of initiatives have been launched to ensure supply of regular and clean drinking water.
