PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP MODULE – DRINKING WATER SUPPLY THROUGH UV WATER WORKS / REVERSE OSMOSIS TECHNOLOGY, A JOINT VENTURE WITH NANDI FOUNDATION AND TATA PROJECTS LIMITED


While the entire State has access to drinking water through government water works/water supply schemes, a new step forward has been taken for supply of water purified by UV Water Works/Reverse Osmosis Technology through a public-private partnership module between Government of Haryana and Nandi Foundation – Tata Projects Limited.

An agreement was signed on 23rd July, 2008 between Government of Haryana and Nandi Foundation, envisaging:-

(i) Setting up of plants based on this technology in 100 villages as a ‘pilot project’ in districts of Mahendragarh, Jhajjar and Kaithal.

(ii) Government of Haryana has paid a one-time grant of Rs.1,150 lakhs for this purpose to Nandi Foundation towards cost of plant/equipment.

(iii) Nandi Foundation would run this plant for a period of five years from the date of installation and supply water purified through this technology at 10 paisa per liter.

(iv) This water purifying plant will become ownership of Panchayats of respective villages Government of Haryana on expiry of a period of five years in order to ensure wider community participation.

All 100 RO Plants have been setup and are operational supplying water to consumers @ 10paise per liter . Government is also following up on this project by setting up another 100 RO Plants in different districts .
