Demonstration Outside Ms. Vasundara Scindia's House in Delhi

Rajasthan is a classic example of an unnerved BJP hierarchy's parochial nervousness in absence of a cohesive political plan or leadership. Denial of share to the state in 'Food for Work' programme, non-allocation of funds for drought relief by the 'special task force' led by Dy. Prime tv1inister and even denial of permission to Chief Minister, Sh. Ashok Gehlot to go abroad have completely exposed the facade of even fake neutrality .

Last straw was the denial of permission by Home Ministry , at the instance of Rajasthan BJP Chief, Ms. Vasundhra Raje Scindia, to transport 4,50,000 Kilograms of wheat collected for the state by the Youth Congress as our second installment of assistance. Net implication was that this huge quantity of wheat would rot in Delhi rather then being permitted to be transported to Rajasthan.

Pushed to the wall; we, at Youth Congress, gheraoed and sat in a peaceful 'Dharna' outside the residence of Ms. Scindia at New Delhi and emptied out a few quintals of wheat collected for Rajasthan outside her house as a mark of our protest and to demonstrate BJP's apathy towards the people of Rajasthan. We were all arrested and detained. IYC President, Sh. Randeep Singh Surjewala made it clear to the authorities that our protests would continue in front of houses of Union Ministers and BJP's M.P's from Rajasthan till the humanitarian relief work is permitted to be undertaken. After detaining the IYC President, Sh. Randeep Singh Surjewala and others for about 6 hours, BJP government had to backtrack, reverse its own decision and grant us the requisite permission.
