Demonstration at Parliament Street, New Delhi

Indian Youth Congress alongwith Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee held a demonstration at Parliament street on 20th September, 2000 to protest against the remarks of Prime Minister, Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee in New York that he was a ‘Swayam Sevak’ while attending the function of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, where P.M. sat on a dias lower than V.H.P. Leaders. Youth Congress Particularly highlighted the fact that not only was the prestige of office lowered, doubts of ‘Hidden Agenda’ of BJP came true when Prime Minister expressed his desire for implementing the same agenda that he had distanced himself from while advocating a moderate line. A memorandum was also submitted.
