Economic and Industry Concern

Painful slowdown threatening virtual closure of Alang Ship Breaking Yard and its subsidiary industries of Roller Steel Mills and Oxygen Units supporting approximately one lakh jobs, non-execution of Tarapur broad gauge railway line direly required to boost the sagging industrial growth of the area, complete lack of government support for the Diamond Industry facing closure in view of irrational duties or creation of a specialized export promotion zone as well as criminal apathy towards agriculture sector marred by non-supply of irrigation water or electricity were the high point of our ‘Jan Aakrosh’ Rally at Bhavnagar, Gujarat on 18th October, 2002.

We particularly highlighted that this negative rate of development has taken place in Bhavnagar and surrounding areas despite the fact that State BJP Chief, Shri Kashi Ram Rana is M.P from the area and almost total presence of BJP legislators/ministers in the region.

Besides Shri Randeep Singh Surjewala, President, IYC and State PYC Chief; Shri Shakti Singh Gohil, former minister; Shri Nanubhai, Shri Amar Singh Patel, Shri Dhanjibhai, all Ex-M.L.A.’s and a number of leaders attended the rally.
