'Gheraoe' the C.B.I headquarters at C.G.O complex, New Delhi

'Constitutional Norms' nd 'Rule of Law' were again sacrificed at the altar of BJP’s insatiable lust in compromising the ‘integrity and independence’ of Central Bureau of investigation (C.B.I) to exonerate Shri Lal Krishan Advani, Shri Murli Manohar Joshi and Ms. Uma Bharti in ‘Babri Masjid Demolition’ case. Brazen manner in which the premier most investigation agency has subjugated itself to the motivated whims of the political masters has eroded the very foundation of faith in its composition, neutrality and competence.

In a flash demonstration, about 3500 activists of the Youth Congress led by the IYC chief, Sh. Randeep Singh Surjewala ‘Gheraoed’ the C.B.I headquarters at C.G.O complex, New Delhi on 23rd July, 2003. We pointed out that overnight change of CBI advocates in the case after a long period of 10 years just before withdrawal of charges of criminal conspiracy; clear verdicts of the Special Court, Lucknow and Allahabad High Court dated February 12, 2001 upholding the charge of criminal conspiracy and C.B.I’s own consistent stand on the issue of charging these three BJP leaders more then establishes the malafides involved.

Ingress and outgress to CBI Headquarters was blocked for over three hours with hundreds of employees of CGO Complex coming out to make common cause and even express their displeasure against CBI and Union Government. IYC Chief, Sh. Randeep Singh Surjewala and others were arrested and taken to Lodi Colony police Station. We were released only after a few hours.
