'Jan Akrosh Rally', New Delhi
Union Budget 2003 conclusively unmasked the anti-poor, anti-youth, anti-farmer and anti-employment mask of BJP led NDA government.
Indian Youth Congress organized a massive gherao of parliament by holding 'Jan Akrosh Rally' on the next working day of Parliament after presentation of Budget i.e. 3rd march, 2003. Led by IYC President, Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala, thousands of slogan shouting youth, carry placards and banners denouncing the government, converged at Parliament.
We participated pointed out that a government that promised 1 crore jobs a year doesn't even mention the words 'youth', 'employment', and 'employment generation' in its budget. While prices of luxury items like air conditioners, cars and liquor are reduced, essential commodities like Diesel, Petrol and Fertilizers were increased besides reducing interest on savings and provident Fund Schemes in complete ignorance of the social security setup in our country.
Shri Shiv Raj Patil, Dy. Leader of Opposition (Lok Sabha), Smt. Mohsina Kidwai, General Secretary, AICC; Ms. Sushila Tiria, Secretary, AICC addressed the rally and enthused the boys besides IYC President, Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala. We have asked the state units to undertake similar activities at the state level.
