"Kisan Naujawan Maha panchayat" and "Gherao" of Parliament, Jantar Mantar, New Delhi

Thousands of activists of Indian Youth Congress marched to Parliament House for participating in the "Kisan Naujawan Maha panchayat" and "Gherao" of Parliament on 29th January, 2004. A mammoth rally held outside Parliament passed a unanimous resolution to purge the country of BJP led NDA in the forthcoming Parliamentary elections for their anti-youth, anti-farmer policies.

We particularly pointed out that BJP’s "feel good" is "fool good". Exhorting the sea of youth and farmers to wage a ‘final war’ for saving the rural – farm economy of the country, we brought out that ‘tiller of the land’ and ‘sons of the soil’ have been left at the mercy of market forces while hunger, unemployment and coruuption have become the catch words of BJP’s rule. Systematic destruction of ‘minimum support price mechanism’ of agricultural produce and ‘administered price control mechanism’ for petro products has failed to connect with 800 millions Indians fighting and every battle for survival.

Senior Leaders who participated in the rally were Shri. Ahmed Patel, Political Secretary to Congress President; Shri Moti Lal Vora, Treasurer, AICC; Shri Oscar Fernandes, General Secretary, AICC; Shri Balram Jakhar, President, All India Kisan Congress and a number of other party functionaries.
