'Martyrdom Day' 23rd March 2003

23rd March is the 'Martyrdom Day' of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. On eve thereof i.e. 22nd March, Youth Congress organized a 'Shaheed Samaroh' at Mumbai to honor the families of these three martyrs along with the family members of Shaheed Udham Singh, Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Shaheed Sirish Mehta, Babu Kenu and Chattokar Bandhu.

We particularly highlighted the universality of their sacrifice for an India that these and millions of other freedom fighters stood for and laid down their lives for. We vowed, in particular, to fight the forces symbolized by BJP and its radical organization/ allies, who are inimical to the very concept of Indianness for which the fight for independence was fought.

Besides the undersigned and PYC Chief, function was attended by Sh. Sushi! Kumar Shinde, Chief Minister; Sh. Sunil Dutt, Member, C.W.C. and a number of ministers and M.L.A.s.
