Politics of Religion - Can we get rid of it
Mumbai - the commercial capital of India - was the center of our debate - "Politics of Religion - Can we get rid of it ?" - on 27th March, 2002 as part of our ongoing nation-wide initiative.
Besides IYC President, Shri Randeep Singh Surjewala and State PYC Chief; leading luminaries like Shri Javed Akhtar - noted lyricist and screenplay writer, Ms. Testa Setalvad-Chairperson of NGO 'Communalism Combat', Prof. Ramji Tiwari-Head, Deptt. Of Hindi of Mumbai University, Shri J.B. D'souza-former Chief Secretary, Shri Yusuf Macchala-Senior Advocate and Member of Muslim Personal Law Board and Shri Vishwanath Sachdev-Editor, Nav Bharat Times participated in the fruitful deliberations.
We particularly highlighted the fact that only Indian National Congress has stood against the dark forces of communalism symbolized by BJP-RSS and its earlier 'Avtar' - Janata Party even at the cost of losing power while all other including the self-styled Lohiaites, Socialists and even leftists have stood with Janata Party or BJP at some point of time in their quest for power at the State and Centre.
