RAHAT ABHIYAN FOR GUJARAT POST COMMUNAL RIOTS

Godhra and post-Godhra carnage has been one of the grossest tragedies reflecting ugliest incarnations of vote bank politics in post-independence India. Under the leadership of Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Hon'ble Congress President, Congress Party has stood up to the multifarious manifestations of communalism unleashed in all its fury.

Inspired by her untiring resolve and to provide meaningful succor to the riot victims languishing in relief camps, Indian Youth Congress launched a 'RAHAT ABHIYAN' uptill village level. IYC not only collected over 4500 quintals of wheat in our house-to-house campaign from predominantly majority Hindu Community, Youth Congress Workers carried Congress party's message to each household and each village as part of this grassroot campaign.

IYC President, Shri. Randeep Singh Surjewala took this opportunity to convey Youth Congress's gratitude to Hon'ble Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi for flagging off the 50 relief trucks (carrying 4500 quintals of wheat) for relief camps in Gujarat on 21st May, 2002. These were duly received by 'Gujarat Rahat Samiti' and distributed.
