Yuva Kisan Rally, Surendernagar (Saurashtra), Gujarat

Predominantly agriculture based Surendernagar (Suarashtra), Gujarat was the venue of our 'Yuva kisan Rally' on 29th October, 2002. Thousands of farmers, women and youth enthusiastically participated.

Agrarian bankruptcy is shackling the lives of farming community in Saurashtra region. We particularly pointed out that Cotton Prices have fallen from Rs. 6500 per quintal during Congress regime in 1994 - 95 to Rs. 4000 at present. Similarly, farmers are constrained to sell groundnut at Rs. 200 to Rs. 225 as against government announced price of Rs. 268. Viewed in background of inhuman drought, lack of any drought relief, increase in prices of fertilizer from Rs. 250 per bag of DAP during Congress regime to Rs. 400 per bag now, increase in prices of diesel and kerosene oil by many hundred percent; agriculture economy of the Saurashtra is in virtual doldrums under Modi led BJP regime.

Besides IYC President Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala and state PYC Chief, Sh. Shankar Singh Vagela, PCC Chief; Shri Amar Singh Chaudhary, CLP Leader; Shri Savi Bhai Makwana, MP and others addressed the rally.
