SETTING NEW PRECEDENTS: DEDICATION TO LAW MAKING FUNCTIONS – DELIBERATIONS & PASSING OF BILLS.

Parliamentary Affairs Ministry has laid special focus across the board on deliberations of various pieces of legislations by allocating proper assembly time for the same. A number of amendments suggested during the debate were accepted on the floor of Assembly and incorporated by the government. Special care has, however, been taken that this important law making function is not jeopardized by political differences.

This can be gauged from the fact that from 1999 upto March, 2005, i.e. a period of six years; previous government passed 113 bills in the Legislative Assembly. As against this, Congress government has deliberated upon and passed 96 bills in three years. Ninety-two of these bills have already been assented to.
